When it comes to ministry here at SSM Irvine, we have a simple formula that we have seen work over and over and over again. Here it is:
A CARING ADULT + A STUDENT + JESUS = GOOD STUFF
That’s it. It’s not magic, and it’s certainly not algebraic. We know that when a caring adult is involved in the life of a student(s), good stuff happens. Will you consider being one of those caring adults? Our team would love to have you join us! We have three primary roles that allow for various levels of involvement: (1) Life Group Leaders, (2) Weekend Leaders, and (3) Tech Leaders. For more information about each of these roles, continue reading below.

LIFE GROUP LEADERS
A Life Group leader is a small group leader for SSM. Life Groups meet once a week throughout the school year, in homes, usually on Tuesday or Wednesday nights for about an hour and a half, and are comprised of Bible study, relational connection, games, prayer time, etc. A typical group is made up of 6-10 students (grade and gender specific) and 2 leaders . Leaders will receive: (1) Small group leader training before they begin (2) curriculum for the weekly Bible studies, and (3) on-going small group leader training and support from the SSM team.
Weekend leaders serve at the 9 or 11 am SSM Sunday service. Responsibilities include connecting with students, participating in the program, helping with set up and tear down and leading a Grade Group. Grade Groups are grade/gender specific small groups that meet for about 10 minutes during each service. The purpose of Grade Groups is to ensure each and every student who attends the weekend service has a chance to make a connection with other students and an adult leader. During this time we will typically set up the message, debrief the message, get updates on student’s lives and pray together.
Special Event leaders help plan, organize, and run our SSM special events. At times we just need adult leaders for transport needs, to attend the event and connect with students. Events include camps, retreats, worship nights, fun nights, Life Group events, dodgeball and MORE.
